Kuwait has announced the appointment of Saad Al Barrak as the new oil minister, replacing Bader Al-Mulla.
The formation of a new cabinet and the appointment of Al Barrak were carried out by Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who was re-appointed as the prime minister the previous week. The announcement of the new cabinet was made through a decree published by the state news agency KUNA.
In addition to the new oil minister, Kuwait also reappointed Manaf Abdulaziz Al Hajri as the finance minister. Furthermore, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah was named as the new defense minister. These appointments come after the resignation of the previous government following parliamentary elections held earlier in the month.
Kuwait, as a Gulf Arab state, possesses significant oil reserves, ranking among the largest in the world. Despite its strong fiscal and external balance sheets, the country has faced challenges due to political conflicts and institutional deadlock, which have hindered investment and reforms aimed at reducing its heavy dependence on oil revenues.
