International Interest in António Agostinho Neto International Airport Concession Grows

Several international companies have submitted proposals to the government for the concession of management rights for the “Dr. António Agostinho Neto” International Airport (AIAAN).

In recent days, these companies have conducted prospecting visits to assess the infrastructure’s potential and business opportunities.

According to the Ministry of Transport, four European and American companies with expertise in airport management have acquired the specifications for the concession tender. They have also conducted technical visits to the airport to evaluate its capabilities firsthand.

Additionally, the Ministry announced the interest of a consortium of Chinese companies in the concession.

The public tender, launched on November 17, 2023, allows for a 25-year concession period, extendable for another 15 years.

Opened on November 10, 2023, by President João Lourenço, AIAAN has the capacity to handle up to 15 million passengers and process 130,000 tons of merchandise annually.

It aims to become a major airport and logistics hub in Africa, facilitating trade exchanges and enhancing connectivity between Angola, Africa, and the rest of the world.

Currently, cargo flights are operational at AIAAN, with full passenger and freight operations expected by the end of 2024.
