An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission, led by Assistant Director of the African Department Amadou Sy, is visiting Angola from May 7th to 17th to conduct a Post Financing Assessment (PFA).
According to a press release on the Ministry of Finance’s website, the IMF representatives will hold meetings to evaluate Angola’s capacity to repay its existing debt to the Bretton Woods institution and assess potential risks affecting this commitment.
The mission’s agenda includes important meetings with high-ranking officials such as the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano; the Minister of Finance, Vera Daves de Sousa; the Minister of Planning, Víctor Hugo Guilherme; the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Rui Miguêns; and the Governor and Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Angola, Manuel Tiago Dias and Pedro Silva, respectively.
The program also includes discussions with the Secretary of State for the Budget, Juciene Cristiano de Sousa; the Secretary of State for Finance and Treasury, Ottoniel dos Santos; and the Secretary of State for Planning, Luís Epalanga, along with directors of various ministerial departments.
Key topics to be addressed in these meetings include macroeconomic and budgetary perspectives, contingency measures, monetary and exchange rate policies, oil sector forecasts, debt outlooks, and economic diversification policies.
