The Huambo province hosted the Investment Opportunities Forum along the Lobito Corridor on the 21st of the month.
The event, held at the Journalist Training Center (CEFOJOR) in Huambo, provided participants with the opportunity to learn how the Lobito Corridor could drive business in sectors such as Transport, Energy, Trade, Industry, and Agriculture.
Also known as the Benguela Railway (CFB), this transportation route represents a vital connection between inland Africa and the Atlantic Ocean, including landlocked countries such as Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
It is not only a commercial route but also a critical gateway to global markets, facilitating the export of minerals, agricultural products, and manufactured goods.
The advantages of using railways, like the Lobito Corridor, for transporting minerals are numerous. Railways are more efficient for moving large volumes over long distances compared to trucks.
They offer a higher cargo capacity per trip, are more fuel-efficient per ton of cargo, and have a lower risk of accidents and breakdowns, thereby reducing the likelihood of delays and damage to goods.
During his visit to Angola in December of the previous year, outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden announced an investment of over $600 million in the Lobito Corridor.
