Organized by Energy Capital & Power, the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2023 Conference is scheduled to occur in Mauritania on November 21-22. It will feature the first-ever keynote address by Aly Seydouba Soumah, the Minister of Energy, Hydroelectricity, and Hydrocarbons of Guinea Conakry. Accompanying him will be Mohamed Bangoura, the National Director of Hydrocarbons; Alhassane Diallo, Hydrocarbons Advisor; and Cheick Salian Kouyaté, Senior Advisor.
“We are honored to welcome Minister Soumah for his debut appearance at the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2023 conference and exhibition,” said Sandra Jeque, Director of International Conferences at ECP.
During the event, Minister Soumah will participate in the Ministerial Forum alongside his counterparts from Senegal, Mauritania, The Gambia, and Guinea-Bissau. The forum will follow a keynote address by Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.
Under the leadership of Minister Soumah, the government has increased the national oil budget twofold to expedite exploration. The Ministry also intends to issue a call for tenders for 22 offshore oil blocks. Furthermore, with the completion of the Souapiti Dam, Guinea Conakry has augmented its hydroelectric generating capacity. The Ministry is actively working to attract additional investment in the sector and promote the development of a competitive and sustainable energy industry in the country.
Meanwhile, the mining industry in Guinea Conakry, which constitutes 35% of the GDP, remains robust. Soguipami, the state-owned mining asset management company, has experienced revenue growth, particularly in the bauxite sector, and now directly sells some of the minerals it mines. The country is exploring opportunities to expand capital flows as interest in the industry rises.
At the MSGBC Oil, Gas & Power 2023 conference, Minister Soumah will not only highlight the most promising prospects in Guinea Conakry but also contribute to a discussion on the future of the region following the commencement of oil and gas production in Senegal and Mauritania. Guinea Conakry, as a resource-rich nation, benefits greatly from significant international attention, and Minister Soumah will engage with potential investors at the MSGBC meeting in November.
