Maritime infrastructure operator Golar LNG’s, Gimi Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) vessel is expected to arrive in Dakar, Senegal on 12 January, where it will serve the first phase of oil and gas supermajor bp’s, Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) project, straddling the maritime border of Mauritania and Senegal.
Upon arrival, the FLNG vessel will be moored and connected to the GTA hub, where it will produce up to 2.7 million tons of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) per year.
Commissioning of the vessel is expected to take approximately six months, with commercial operations for the project expected to take place as early as the second quarter of 2024.
Approximately 500 million standard cubic feet of gas per day will be processed at the LNG project’s Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading unit before exporting it by pipeline to the project’s FLNG facilities.
The GTA project is being jointly developed by BP; upstream oil company, Kosmos Energy; and Mauritania and Senegal’s respective National Oil Companies, Petrosen and the Société Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures.
