The West African Gas Pipeline Company – the limited liability company that owns and operates the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP) – has commissioned the interconnected pipeline in Ghana to the Sentuo Oil Refinery project in Tema.
First gas officially flowed from the Tema Regulating & Metering Station through the pipeline to the refinery project, representing a key step towards starting operations at the 120,000 barrel per day plant.
“This will enable us to complete the construction of our refinery and operate all the furnaces and boilers for our production.
Gas is indeed a very critical component in our refinery process,” commented Albert Duncan, Engineering Consultant and Project Lead for the Sentuo Oil Refinery.
The project represents part of the larger WAGP, a 678km pipeline transporting natural gas from Nigeria to Benin, Togo and Ghana.
Gas will be used to power the facility while opening up opportunities for job creation, industrialization and economic growth.
