GEOCEAN Advances Congo LNG Project with Key Mooring Installation Milestone

French marine contractor GEOCEAN has successfully completed a key phase in the installation of a mooring system for a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) unit offshore Congo, part of Eni’s Congo LNG project in the Marine XII block.

This milestone involved the placement of a drilling guide template and diver-assisted inspections to ensure precise alignment and safety in the offshore environment.

It followed the arrival of the jack-up barge La Sianna at the site in March 2025, which was deployed to serve as a stable work platform.

A 57-meter casing weighing 167 tons was transported to the site by a platform supply vessel and installed within the drilling template, marking the start of drilling and anchor pile installation. With three anchor piles now in place, the foundation of the mooring system is complete and ready to support the FLNG unit.

Congo LNG commenced exports in February 2024 using the Tango FLNG unit. The project includes the deployment of two FLNG units at the Nene and Litchendjili fields.

The second unit is currently under construction and expected to begin operations by the end of 2025.
