Gemcorp Angola is committed to advancing energy sector projects in partnership with the Angolan government.
To this end, a memorandum of understanding was signed in Luanda with the Ministry of Energy and Water, aiming to create a platform that will facilitate investments in the energy sector.
The memorandum outlines plans for modernizing the Capanda Hydroelectric Plant and constructing electrical power transmission lines to the Namibian border. These initiatives will position Angola as a key energy exporter to Southern Africa.
The agreement was signed by Rui Gourgel, President of the Board of Directors of the National Electricity Transmission Network (RNT), and Marcus Weyll, CEO of Gemcorp Angola.
The event was attended by the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, and the Secretary of State for Energy, Arlindo Carlos.
Marcus Weyll emphasized that this partnership is a significant milestone, reinforcing Gemcorp’s commitment to Angola’s economic and social development.
“Contributing to the diversification of the economy and ensuring that water and energy serve the community and the country’s development is one of Gemcorp Angola’s primary goals,” he stated.
