Gasoline price will be 300 kwanzas per liter starting today

This change is a result of the gradual removal of fuel subsidies announced by the Government in Luanda on Thursday 1stnJune.

This measure does not apply to licensed taxi drivers, motorcycle taxi drivers, and licensed fishing vessels, who will continue to pay the previous price of 160 kwanzas per liter using a fuel card with a weekly or monthly balance.

According to the Secretary of State for Land Transportation, Jorge Bengue, the fuel cards will be distributed starting today to the already licensed operators.

“It is a non-transferable card that benefits only the user whose license plate is registered,” clarified the Secretary of State in a statement to TPA.

Jorge Bengue also explained that personalized vehicles (through applications) will not benefit from the subsidies “because the quality and type of passengers using these services do not fall under the category of vulnerable population that the Government aims to protect.”

On the other hand, subsidies for regular urban passenger transportation users will be maintained.

According to the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Manuel Nunes, who spoke on Thursday at a press conference, this measure is part of the gradual removal of gasoline price subsidies.

Manuel Nunes Júnior justified that the measure, approved in the Council of Ministers, aims to improve the social conditions of the population in various areas.
