GameChange Solar has signed a major agreement with CEEC-ZTPC to supply its Genius Tracker™ 1P Single Row system for Phase II of Egypt’s Abydos Solar PV Plant, further strengthening its footprint in Africa’s renewable energy sector.
The project, spearheaded by AMEA Power with CEEC-ZTPC handling construction, will feature a 1 GWac solar photovoltaic plant integrated with a 600 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). Once completed, it will be one of the largest solar-plus-storage developments in Africa.
This latest deal brings GameChange Solar’s total tracker supply in Egypt to nearly 3 GW, reinforcing its status as a key solar tracking solutions provider in the region.
The project supports Egypt’s ambitious goal of achieving 42% renewable energy in its national energy mix by 2030.
Slated for commissioning in May 2026, Abydos II will cover an area of 20 square kilometers in the Aswan Governorate.
The plant is expected to generate approximately 3,000 GWh of clean electricity annually—enough to power more than 500,000 homes and reduce over 1 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.
Vikas Bansal, International President of GameChange Solar, underscored the strength of the company’s ongoing collaboration with CEEC-ZTPC and AMEA Power.
He noted that the success of Abydos I—a 560 MW plant already in commercial operation—laid the groundwork for this next phase. He credited reliable delivery and strong partnerships as key drivers behind the new agreement.
With the deployment of its Genius Tracker™ technology, GameChange Solar continues to accelerate Africa’s clean energy transition by enhancing system performance, simplifying installation, and improving project durability.
This milestone underscores Egypt’s leadership in renewable energy development and highlights GameChange Solar’s role in shaping the continent’s sustainable energy future.
