ExxonMobil’s President for Upstream, Dan Ammann, led a company delegation that met with Mozambican President Daniel Chapo today, reaffirming the company’s commitment to Mozambique and the liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Cabo Delgado.
According to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic, Ammann emphasized the strong collaboration between the Mozambican government and international partners to advance the LNG project. “It was a pleasure to meet His Excellency President Chapo.
We discussed our commitment to Mozambique, the LNG project, and the communities in Cabo Delgado,” Ammann stated.
The Cabo Delgado LNG project, led by ExxonMobil and its partners, is a major milestone in Mozambique’s natural resource sector.
With significant investments in infrastructure and gas extraction, the project is expected to drive economic growth, create direct and indirect jobs, and enhance local development.
Beyond its economic impact, the LNG initiative aims to improve infrastructure in Cabo Delgado, including roads, schools, and healthcare facilities.
Ammann highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between the government, ExxonMobil, and its partners to ensure the project’s success.
Sustainability and social responsibility were key topics of discussion. ExxonMobil reiterated its commitment to sustainable environmental practices to minimize negative impacts while also supporting community initiatives.
The company aims to ensure fair distribution of project benefits and active engagement with local communities in decision-making.
Through its partnership with the Mozambican government, ExxonMobil is implementing training programs and social investments to build a skilled workforce in the gas industry.
These efforts include education and healthcare investments, ensuring that the economic growth from LNG benefits the people of Cabo Delgado.
