Equatorial Guinea: Petrofac Secures $350M Contract to Support NOC

International service provider Petrofac has been awarded a $350 million technical services contract by Equatorial Guinea’s NOC GEPetrol.

In support of Equatorial Guinea’s Block B assets, Petrofac will deliver services across onshore support bases, an FPSO and a platform on behalf of GEPetrol – which serves as the block’s operator – for five years.

“We will grow our economy through diverse partnerships and investment in our people. Combining our strong indigenous capabilities, with Petrofac’s global expertise and experience, we will deliver significant value for our country,” said Antonio Oburu Ondo, Equatorial Guinea Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons.

Under the deal, Petrofac will manage the contract from its base in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea’s capital, and will maintain local staff and contractors.

“We look forward to developing our relationship with GEPetrol further, collaborating to extend the life of the field to build a legacy of energy independence and sustainable growth for Equatorial Guinea,” stated Petrofac’s Assets Solutions Chief Operating Officer

Following Petrofac’s initial scope supporting asset transitions from ExxonMobil’s subsidiary Mobil Equatorial Guinea – which announced its exit from Equatorial Guinea in February – the deal will draw on the company’s expertise in operations, maintenance, asset integrity and management, marine services, well engineering, project delivery and supply chain services.

“By unlocking the huge potential of our indigenous national workforce, we will build with Petrofac’s assistance, an organization for the long-term management and development of our country’s oil and gas assets,” stated GEPetrol Director General Teresa Isabel Nnang Avomo.
