ENDIAMA President Reveals Plans for Diamond Exploration

In a significant announcement, José Manuel Augusto Ganga Júnior, President of the Board of Directors of the National Diamond Company (ENDIAMA), unveiled plans for a groundbreaking feasibility study aimed at tapping into Angola’s untapped oceanic resources, including diamonds and other valuable minerals.

The revelation came during a high-profile event in Luanda, underscoring Angola’s commitment to diversifying its mining sector and harnessing its rich natural resources.

Addressing reporters at the “Albina Assis” auditorium of the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Ganga Júnior shed light on Angola’s potential to explore diamonds in its maritime territory, an endeavor yet to be fully realized despite neighboring countries such as Namibia and South Africa making significant strides in oceanic diamond mining.

Ganga Júnior’s remarks came as part of a roundtable discussion on “History About Leadership in the Mining Sector,” held during the opening session of the Technical and Scientific Days of the “Mining Workers’ Day.”

Alongside other industry leaders, including the PCA of Sodiam, Eugénio Bravo da Rosa, and the president of the Order of Engineers, Paulino Neto, Ganga Júnior emphasized the importance of harnessing Angola’s oceanic resources for economic growth.

He highlighted ongoing efforts within ENDIAMA to conduct a comprehensive feasibility study to assess the viability of oceanic diamond exploration.

Recognizing the vast potential lying beneath Angola’s coastal waters, Ganga Júnior emphasized the urgency of materializing these projects to bolster the nation’s economy.

“There is already work being done to explore diamonds and other valuable mineral resources in the ocean, because our sea contains these precious resources that must be harnessed to boost our economy. It’s all a matter of time before the projects are materialized,” Ganga Júnior asserted, underlining the inevitability of Angola’s foray into oceanic mining.

The revelation of plans for oceanic diamond exploration marks a significant milestone for Angola’s mining sector, signaling a strategic shift towards tapping into previously unexplored resources.

As the country embarks on this ambitious endeavor, it stands poised to unlock new avenues for economic growth and development, leveraging its natural wealth for the benefit of its citizens and the broader economy.
