DRC’s Gold Exports Generate $1,104.0 Billion USD by the End of 2022

In a recent annual report published on the Ministry of Mines website, it has been revealed that the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) exported a total of 28,306.26 kilograms of gold in 2022. The exports generated a revenue of 1.104 billion US dollars during the evaluated period.

The report also highlights the dominance of KibaIi Gold and MCCR in the industrial exploitation of unrefined gold exports. KibaIi Gold accounted for 99.83% of the exports, while MCCR’s contribution was merely 0.17%, making its export quantity marginal.

When it comes to artisanal gold exports, the report estimates a total of 42.25 kilograms, resulting in a sum of 1 billion 592 million 809 thousand 58 cents.

Analyzing the geographical distribution of artisanal gold production, the majority of it originated from the province of South Kivu, accounting for an estimated volume of 18.56 kilograms or 43.93% of the total. The province of Tshopo followed closely with 12.31 kilograms (29.14%). The city of Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, secured the third position, contributing an estimated 4.22 kilograms or 9.99% of the total production. Tanganyika accounted for 3.19 kilograms (7.55%), the province of North Kivu had 1.39 kilograms (3.29%), and the province of Ituri concluded the ranking with a total production of 2.58 kilograms in 2022.
