The Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, asked, last week for greater dynamism from the new executive administrator of Sonangol’s Board of Directors to achieve Sonangol’s objectives in increasing prospecting and research for more resources.
By delegation of powers from the President of the Republic when inaugurating the new executive administrator of the Board of Directors of Sonangol, Belarmino Chitangueleca, appointed on Wednesday,
Diamantino Azevedo requested greater commitment to the execution of the Petroleum Exploration and Production Strategy to increase , by 2027, the oil company’s position up to at least 10%.
According to the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, on Facebook, Sonangol operates only 2% of production.
“It is a huge challenge for Sonangol. We ask that (the administrator) bring greater dynamics to achieving this goal.”
Diamantino Azevedo also highlighted that the oil production situation in the country is declining and “we need to increase prospecting and research for more resources” and called for special attention to the issue of distribution of oil derivatives, and also made reference to refining and petrochemicals.
When taking the floor, Belarmino Chitangueleca promised to work hard to fulfill the minister’s recommendations according to Sonangol’s strategies, projects and programs for the rapid achievement of the objectives set.
