Dangote Refinery Lowers Fuel Price to N970 in Year-End Gesture

The Dangote Refinery has announced a reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to N970 per liter, down from the previous N990.

This N20 decrease applies to marketers purchasing directly from the refinery, according to a report by The Punch.

Anthony Chiejina, Dangote Group’s Chief Branding and Communications Officer, confirmed the adjustment on Sunday, describing it as a gesture of appreciation for Nigerians as the year draws to a close.

“This reduction is our way of thanking the good people of Nigeria for their unwavering support in bringing the refinery project to fruition.

It also acknowledges the government’s assistance in fostering domestic enterprise for the collective well-being of the nation,” Chiejina stated.

He further assured Nigerians of the refinery’s commitment to producing high-quality, sustainable petroleum products, emphasizing efforts to meet and exceed the country’s fuel demand while maintaining ecological standards.

“We are committed to increasing production to address domestic consumption needs and alleviate concerns about potential supply shortages,” he added.

Earlier in the month, fuel marketers anticipated that PMS sourced from the Dangote Refinery would be N50 cheaper than imported alternatives.

“For instance, the current price in Maiduguri is N1,200 per liter. With this change, it could drop to N1,150 or even lower,” explained Abubakar Garima, president of Nigeria’s Independent Oil Marketers Association.

The price adjustment underscores the refinery’s role in stabilizing Nigeria’s fuel market while fostering economic and environmental sustainability.
