Dangote Refinery Slashes Petrol Prices to ₦841, Begins Free Fuel Delivery to 11 Nigerian States
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a significant reduction in petrol prices alongside the launch of direct fuel distribution across 11 states, effective Monday, September 15, 2025.
In a statement released Thursday on its official X account, the refinery confirmed that pump prices have been lowered to ₦841 per litre in Lagos and the South West, and ₦851 per litre in Abuja, Edo, Kwara, Rivers, and Delta States. The gantry price has been set at ₦820 per litre.
“Dangote Petroleum Refinery begins direct supply of PMS with free delivery effective Monday, September 15, 2025. New gantry price is set at ₦820,” the statement read.
As part of the initiative, registered filling stations in 12 states will receive free delivery of petrol, with nationwide expansion planned in phases. The scheme—originally slated for August—was delayed due to logistics bottlenecks in China.
Fuel station operators are being urged to register for access, with the program expected to streamline supply chains, improve distribution efficiency, and curb fuel scarcity in participating states.
Strengthening Nigeria’s Fuel Security
Since its commissioning, the Dangote Refinery has been central to reducing Nigeria’s dependence on imported petroleum products.
In July 2025, it received 4,000 CNG-powered trucks under a ₦720 billion investment plan to distribute up to 65 million litres of refined fuel daily.
This investment is projected to save Nigeria ₦1.7 trillion annually in gasoline distribution costs, while reviving idle petrol stations and improving downstream operations.
Industry experts say Dangote’s move could ease fuel price pressures, strengthen supply reliability, and accelerate Nigeria’s path toward energy independence.
