The Republic of Congo has secured funding from the African Development Bank (AfDB) to carry out feasibility studies for potential hydropower projects at Mbandza Ndounga and Linzolo.
The support is provided through the Middle-Income Country Technical Assistance Fund, managed by the AfDB.
The Mbandza Ndounga site, located in the southern region of the country, has been prioritized for immediate study.
Meanwhile, the Linzolo site—about 20 kilometers south of Brazzaville—is included on a conditional basis. The feasibility studies will include detailed design and technical assessments to evaluate the viability of developing hydroelectric facilities at both locations.
Through these initiatives, the Congolese government aims to strengthen the national power grid and drive economic growth by expanding access to reliable and sustainable energy.
