Italy’s Eni has supplied first gas to its Tango floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility in the Republic of the Congo, achieving the milestone just twelve months after the final investment decision was made.
Tango FLNG is expected to produce its initial LNG cargo by Q1 2024, transforming the country into a leading LNG export market. The facility is part of Eni’s broader natural gas development project in the Marine XII block.
Manufactured by Chinese engineering, procurement and construction firm, Wison, Tango LNG has a liquefaction capacity of one billion cubic meters per year and a storage capacity of 16,100 cubic meters.
It arrived in Congo last November and utilizes an innovative “split mooring” configuration alongside the Excalibur FSU – a first for floating LNG terminals.
Looking ahead, a second FLNG vessel with a capacity of 3.5 billion cubic meters per year is currently under construction in China and set to begin production in 2025.
