British Consulting Firm Oxford Economics Predicts Decline in Oil Production

The consultancy forecasts that Angola’s oil production will decrease by 1.6 percent this year to 1.12 million barrels per day, despite the recent reduction in production due to maintenance.

.Due to the lost production in the Dalia field in February and March, we predict a 1.6 percent decrease in oil production, down to 1.12 million barrels per day in 2023,” according to a comment on the latest data about the sector in the country, which shows a recovery in production.

In a note sent to clients and quoted by Lusa, the African department of Oxford Economics also estimates a 21 percent reduction in the price of a barrel of oil, with an average of 80 dollars, for this year.

This week, a report from the National Agency for Oil, Gas, and Biofuels (ANPG) stated that in June, Angola’s oil production averaged 1,120,246 barrels per day (bpd), which is 0.52 percent more than the official forecasts that indicated an average of 1,114,439 bpd, according to the figures released.

In the Monthly Summary on Oil Production for June 2023, the national hydrocarbon concessionaire declared that in that month, Angola’s crude oil production reached a total of 33,607,388 barrels. A comparison made by our editorial team with the numbers from May, when production reached a total volume of 34,438,656 barrels, indicates a monthly decline of 2.4 percent.
