Brazil produces 3.4 million barrels of Oil per Day

A total of 3.4 million barrels of oil per day was produced on average by Brazil in August, which represents an increase of 12.2 percent compared to the same month last year.

According to data released by the National Petroleum Agency (ABP), in relation to July, production fell 1.4 percent.

The maritime fields of the pre-salt oil horizon, which are located in deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean, have once again become the country’s main producers, with an average of 3.28 million barrels of oil and natural gas equivalent per day, the which represents 74.7 percent of all Brazilian hydrocarbon production.

Of this total, an average of 2.59 million barrels per day was crude oil, with another average of 109.7 million cubic meters per day being gas.

The Tupi field, which explores oil and gas in the Santos maritime basin, in the pre-salt, continued to be the most important in Brazil, with a production of 760,160 barrels of oil per day and 35.4 million cubic meters of gas Natural.

Brazilian state oil company Petrobras maintained its leadership during the period, with 88.3 percent of the total produced in the country (around 2.8 million barrels of oil equivalent per day).

It was followed by Shell, with an average of 474,826 barrels per day, the French Total Energies (175,328) and Petrogal Brasil (121,088), all members of different consortiums.

ANP statistics bring together the results of oil and natural gas exploration from 52 companies operating in Brazil, in 262 areas granted under a concession regime, nine of which the operators share their production with the State and six areas that the State granted to Petrobras under special conditions.
