August: Diamonds yield 5.5 billion kwanzas

Tax revenues from the country’s diamond production, in August, stood at 5.5 billion kwanzas.

The purchase value was estimated at 173 million dollars. The Industrial Tax was 1.85 billion kwanzas and the Royalty 3.7 billion. According to the document published on the Ministry of Finance’s website, the proceeds resulted from the sale of 773,000 carats at a price of US$267. In the month of July, 729 thousand carats had been sold at a price of 316 dollars, resulting in a revenue of 198 million dollars. In that period, the Industrial Tax calculated was 2.1 billion kwanzas and the Royalty was 4.2 billion. The estimated revenue in July stood at 6.3 billion kwanzas.

The Angolan National Diamond Company (EN-DIAMA E.P) has forecast production of 10.05 million carats this year and an estimated revenue of US$1.4 billion. As for investments in the sector in 2021, values ​​above 100 million dollars were applied. The investments in question were carried out in projects already in operation, carried out in order to improve performance and participation. As an example, in the specific case of the Catoca mine, the participation of state-owned En-diama was 32.8 percent and currently stands at around 41 percent, as a result of an investment of US$70 million made with own resources.
