ANPG attracts Oil Investors from Canada

The National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG) announced that it had maintained contacts with representatives of companies specializing in onshore oil exploration and production, in the city of Calgary, Canada, in meetings held to request investment in the Angolan hydrocarbon industry.

the meeting took place on the 19th of this month, with the partnership of the Calgary Petroleum Club, with discussions focusing on the potential of the hydrocarbons sector within the framework of the 14 Block Bidding onshore in the Congo and Kwanza Basins.

“Canada has extensive experience in onshore exploration, with a network of small and medium-sized companies, with Calgary being the center of the country’s oil activity, hence the importance of arousing the interest of new investors to establish successful partnerships with ANPG ”, defended Executive Administrator Natacha Massano.

The meeting was part of the concessionaire’s participation strategy in the 24th World Petroleum Congress, which took place in that city from the 17th to the 21st of the current month, where Angola was represented by a delegation led by the Secretary of State for Oil and Gas, José Barroso.

At the meeting, Angola took the opportunity to reaffirm its position regarding the energy transition and decarbonization, highlighting the need for a fair, equitable process capable of combating energy poverty.

“We were able to share our ideas about the intricacies of industry decarbonization, but also the way in which each one can actually achieve the decarbonization objectives.

Angola defended a fair, equitable transition that must combat energy poverty”, said the secretary of State mentioned in the note.

According to José Barroso, “we were followed in this reasoning by most African, South American and North American countries; yes, we must carry out the energy transition, but according to the specificity of each country. The objective of achieving net zero by 2050 should not be defined for everyone.”

The mission of the national concessionaire, led by the chairman of the Board of Directors, Paulino Jerónimo, included the directors of Exploration, Lúmen Sebastião, Negotiations, Alcides Andrade, and Strategic Planning, David Quingongo.
