Angola Oil Production Drops to 1.03 Million Barrels per Day in August 2025 — Below Targets for Six Months
Angola’s oil production continued to fall short of expectations in August 2025, averaging 1.03 million barrels per day and marking the sixth consecutive month of underperformance.
According to the monthly report from the National Agency of Petroleum, Gas, and Biofuels (ANPG), Angola produced 32.07 million barrels in August, equivalent to an average of 1,034,655 barrels per day — below the forecast of 1,086,727 barrels per day.
Since March 2025, Angola has consistently failed to meet its production targets, with daily averages fluctuating between 1 million and 998,000 barrels per day, falling short of state-owned operators’ projections.
The ANPG attributed the shortfall to a combination of scheduled maintenance shutdowns, natural reservoir decline, and technical constraints limiting installed capacity.
In contrast, Angola’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) segment performed strongly in August. Angola LNG reported production of 4.93 million barrels of oil equivalent, approximately 9% above forecasts.
This increase underscores the growing importance of LNG in Angola’s energy sector and suggests a potential avenue for offsetting declines in crude oil output.
As Angola navigates these production challenges, the LNG sector may play a critical role in sustaining the country’s energy output and economic stability.
