Angola’s Minister Azevedo Wraps Up AOG 2023 Conference on Energy and Industry

The last day of the Angola Oil & Gas (AOG) 2023 Conference & Exhibition, organized by Energy Capital & Power, closed with final remarks delivered by Angola’s Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum, and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo.

Minister Azevedo spoke on the success of the conference and the role that energy development in Angola will play in ensuring energy security and sustainable development in the southern African country.

“Energy security, decarbonization, and sustainability have been a core focus of this conference and in the past few days, we have shown that Angola is on the right path,” Minister Azevedo stated, adding, “It is up to us to be courageous enough to turn our resources into a blessing and to use these resources for the benefit of our people, our society, and our country as well. In my opening remarks, I stated that my country is well-positioned in this regard.”

The Minister also expressed optimism for the future of the energy space in Angola, taking note of the major developments that have come online in recent years as well as projects due to come online in the future. He spoke of Angola’s progress in all sectors of the energy value chain and invited other countries in the region to participate in the country’s energy wealth.

Minister Azevedo highlighted the role of Angola’s resources in shifting the global economy, reiterating the government’s efforts towards creating an enabling environment for businesses and ensuring that all Angolans will benefit from the country’s energy sector while actively engaging in the energy transition.

Under the theme, ‘Energy Security, Decarbonization, and Sustainable Development,’ AOG 2023 officially came to a close with the Minister’s stated optimism for the future, assuring local and international investors and players of the positive impact their efforts have on the country, its development, and its people.
