Angola pocketed 1.1 billion dollars in gas exports in the second quarter of this year

Angola pocketed 1.1 billion dollars in the second quarter of this year, with the export of one million metric tons of gas, 6.63 percent less compared to the same quarter of 2021, according to official data.

According to the Balance of Crude Oil and Natural Gas Exports for the second quarter of 2022, presented this Tuesday by the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, gas exports in the second quarter of this year represented a decrease of 9,01 percent compared to the previous quarter.

In the reporting period, LNG [liquefied natural gas], butane and propane gas were mostly exported to Asia and Europe.

The data indicate that 676,460 metric tons of LNG were exported, at an average price of 1,300,850 dollars per metric ton, 35,660 metric tons of butane gas, at an average price of 675,888 dollars per metric ton, and 313 39 thousand metric tons of propane gas, at an average price of 647,530 dollars per metric ton, with no export of condensate gas.

The main destinations for LNG were India (30 percent), France (30 percent) and the Netherlands (20.33 percent), while butane gas exports went to China, with 63.92 percent, France, with 34.47 percent, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Namibia, with 1.48 percent and 0.13 percent, respectively.

Regarding propane gas, the main importers were China (54.11 percent) and France (10.28 percent).

The balance sheet concludes that the price of Angolan crudes followed the trend in the price of Brent on the international market, at 113 dollars per barrel, with an upward trend, with the Asian market being the main destination for Angola’s crude oil and gas exports.
