The ministers of petroleum from five countries and officials from leading organizations and multinational corporations in the sector are currently meeting at the Talatona Convention Center in Luanda for the 4th Angola Oil&Gas Conference, focusing on discussions about energy security, decarbonization and sustainable development.
In addition to the host country’s representative, Minister Diamantino Azevedo, the event includes the heads of hydrocarbons, petroleum, and mineral resources ministries from Equatorial Guinea, which also presides over the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Senegal, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Venezuela.
Leaders from major global oil companies such as Total, BP, and Chevron, who are also in attendance, will discuss decarbonization strategies and global trends in the upstream production sector, as well as investment opportunities to counter the decline in production in Angola, the second-largest oil producer in Africa.
At the Angola Oil&Gas Conference, taking place from today until Thursday, the optimization of Angola’s gas potential is another prominent topic, considering the role of this resource as a transitional energy source.
This marks the fourth time that the Angolan capital has hosted the event.
