Angola Aims to Produce Over 16 Million Carats of Diamonds in 2026

Endiama Targets Record Diamond Production in 2026

After achieving diamond production of more than 15 million carats in 2025, Endiama has set ambitious targets for 2026, forecasting national output to exceed 16 million carats.

The projection was announced by Ganga Júnior, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Endiama, during a press conference held on Thursday to present the company’s 2025 performance results and its strategic objectives for the current year.

According to Angop, the Endiama chairman stated that Angola expects to produce approximately 16.2 million carats of diamonds in 2026—an increase of 1.2 million carats compared to the previous year. In revenue terms, this level of production is projected to generate an estimated USD 2.43 billion.

Data from 2025 confirms strong performance by the sector. In a statement accessed by VerAngola, Endiama reported that diamond production reached 15.2 million carats last year, generating revenues of approximately USD 1.79 billion.

The press conference, held as part of the celebrations marking Endiama’s 45th anniversary, also outlined the company’s strategic priorities for 2026.

Among these are the diversification of Angola’s energy matrix, with a focus on clean and sustainable energy sources, as well as strengthening corporate governance, quality standards, and Angola’s participation in the World Diamond Council.

Ganga Júnior also announced plans for the inauguration of Angola’s first gold refinery and the expansion of activities in the diamond cutting and polishing segment. This includes the opening of the first cutting and polishing factory wholly owned by Endiama.

Speaking at the event, the Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, highlighted Endiama’s central role in the development of Angola’s mining sector.

In a statement from the ministry, the minister praised the company’s historical trajectory and its strategic contribution over 45 years of operation.

Diamantino Azevedo also emphasized the importance of clearly separating strategic, tactical, and operational functions within public companies, while stressing the need for strict compliance with the Mining Code.

“This is not merely a theoretical issue. The way reconnaissance, prospecting, and research are defined has a direct impact on operational execution and the results achieved,” the minister stated.
