The Agogo FPSO is preparing to sail from China to Angola’s Block 15/06, where it will form part of the Agogo Integrated West Hub Development.
Once in place, the FPSO will increase Block 15/06’s production by 120,000 barrels per day, with operations set to begin in late 2025.
Completed six months ahead of schedule, the Agogo FPSO is equipped with state-of-the-art features, including a combined cycle power generation unit, advanced electrification and digital automation, a seawater-driven turbine generator, and a vapor recovery unit to eliminate flaring.
Notably, it also houses the world’s first carbon capture and storage unit, positioning it as an energy-efficient and low-emission vessel.
Jose Barroso, Secretary of State for Oil and Gas in Angola, highlighted the project’s alignment with Angola’s strategic vision for partnerships focused on technology transfer, local content development, and environmental management.
He emphasized that critical components were manufactured in Angolan shipyards, demonstrating a commitment to strengthening the local industry and promoting self-sufficiency.
Block 15/06 is operated by Azule Energy, alongside partners Sonangol E&P, Sinopec, and Namcor. The block encompasses the Agogo and Ndungu fields, as well as the operational Ngoma FPSO.
Adriano Mongini, CEO of Azule Energy, noted that the early completion of the Agogo FPSO highlights the project execution capabilities of Azule Energy and the seamless collaboration between all stakeholders.
He added that this milestone allows for the rapid and cost-effective maximization of reserves in Block 15/06, including the mature fields in the area.
