The Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) has successfully reactivated nine wells in the As Sidra Oil Field, significantly boosting production.
According to the National Oil Corporation (NOC), this achievement is expected to add approximately 4,000 barrels of crude oil per day to the field’s output.
The NOC detailed the technical repairs in a statement released on Sunday. These included fixing faults in the high-pressure electricity network that supplies four wells (C-178, C-221A, C-227, and C-242) and repairing leaks in the flow lines of another four wells (C-82, C-128, C-264, and C-348).
Additionally, the electrical and mechanical connections for well C-309 were completed.
This initiative is part of NOC’s strategy to enhance production levels. The corporation commended AGOCO for the swift execution of repairs and praised the workforce for their dedicated efforts.
AGOCO confirmed that the repair operation, completed within a week, was a collaborative effort involving maintenance teams at the As Sidra field, supported by various departments and units.
Last Thursday, AGOCO also completed comprehensive maintenance on Well L84, aligning with NOC’s directives to increase production capacity.
The maintenance activities included isolating depleted layers and treating new oil layers. Well L84 had been offline since 2021 due to a high percentage of associated water, resulting in a minimal daily production of only 49 barrels of oil.
Following the reactivation, well tests revealed significant production potential, exceeding 580 barrels of oil per day.
AGOCO’s report highlighted substantial operational improvements, notably reducing the associated water ratio to just 4%.
