AGL Logistics Launches Operations at Lobito Terminal in Angola

Africa Global Logistics (AGL) has inaugurated operations at the AGL Lobito Terminal, a versatile container and bulk goods facility situated within Angola’s Port of Lobito.

This development follows AGL’s successful bid secured through an international tender process in October 2023.

The terminal, with its impressive capacity to handle over one million tons of bulk goods and accommodate 100,000 TEU containers annually, marks a significant milestone in enhancing trade connectivity and logistics efficiency in the region.

The establishment of the AGL Lobito Terminal underscores AGL’s commitment to addressing Africa’s logistical challenges while promoting economic growth and competitiveness.

With a strategic focus on facilitating the transportation of minerals, agricultural products, and various commodities, the terminal serves as a vital gateway for regional and international trade.

AGL’s substantial investment of 200 million euros in the development of the Lobito Terminal demonstrates its dedication to advancing infrastructure and fostering trade networks.

Furthermore, AGL has forged a strategic partnership with the renowned international shipping line MSC, aiming to optimize transit times to key markets in Europe and America.

Philippe Labonne, President of AGL, articulated the significance of the Lobito Terminal in driving Africa’s economic development agenda.

Labonne emphasized the terminal’s pivotal role in enhancing market access and supporting industries critical to global trade along the Lobito Corridor.

The inauguration of the AGL Lobito Terminal signifies a major step forward in unlocking Angola’s trade potential and positioning the country as a key player in the global logistics landscape.

With its state-of-the-art infrastructure and strategic location, the terminal is poised to catalyze economic growth and create opportunities for sustainable development in the region.
