African Energy Council and Nigeria’s REA Unite to Expand Clean Energy Access

African Energy Council Signs MoU with Nigeria’s REA to Boost Clean Energy in Underserved Communities

The African Energy Council (AEC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nigeria’s Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to collaborate on expanding access to clean, reliable energy in underserved and unserved communities across the country.

This strategic partnership lays the groundwork for impactful collaboration focused on delivering practical energy solutions to areas that need them the most.

By leveraging AEC’s global expertise and technical capabilities alongside REA’s deep local knowledge and operational experience, the initiative aims to advance projects that enhance quality of life through renewable energy and innovative technologies such as hydrogen.

Key areas of collaboration include training and capacity-building programs, joint research initiatives, policy development support, and community engagement efforts.

AEC will play a pivotal role in attracting international investment and driving innovation, while REA will ensure all efforts align with the unique needs and realities of local communities.

The AEC also commends REA’s Managing Director and CEO, Abba Aliyu, for his leadership in advancing Nigeria’s renewable energy sector and working toward a more resilient and inclusive national energy system.

This partnership marks a significant step forward in the mission to close Nigeria’s energy gap and build a sustainable energy future for all.
