Kwanza gains ground on the Euro

The Kwanza appreciated against the Euro, in the period from 7 to 21, 1.6 percent, reducing from 901.5 per note to 887.5, respectively.

When compared to the intermediate week (the 14th), the appreciation of the Angolan currency is even greater, as on that date each Euro note cost 885.2 kwanzas.

In relation to the US Dollar, the national currency lost slightly, rising from the previous 832.00 kwanzas to 833.00 kwanzas.

In week 14, there was stability, with the score remaining at the same value over an interval of seven days.

The National Bank of Angola (BNA), for example, sets an average exchange rate of 888.2 kwanzas for each Euro and 832.8 kwanzas for the Dollar.

Offenses

The BNA announced, last week, the imposition of a fine worth four million and one hundred thousand kwanzas.

This value results from the application of a financial penalty following verifications of inadequacies in operation. In the same process, another five (5) registered warnings were applied to them.

The sanctioning measures that have been adopted by the BNA aim to ensure the rights of customers.

The central bank noted, according to a publication on its website, that of the six cases, four were against financial institutions and the two against non-bank institutions (Read more details and experts’ comments in next Friday’s edition from the Jornal de Economia & Finances).
