The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) forecasts a slight decrease of 0.04 percent in Angola’s oil production for 2025, with output falling to under 1.1 million barrels per day.
According to OPEC’s latest monthly report, non-OPEC countries are expected to see a growth in oil and gas production by 1.4 million barrels per day in 2025.
However, Angola is among the few countries expected to experience a decline, along with Mexico.
Angola’s decision to exit OPEC in January aimed to boost production without being constrained by OPEC-imposed quotas.
Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil, and Gas, Diamantino Pedro Azevedo, emphasized that Angola’s role in the organization had become less significant over the years.
Despite projections of stagnation in production for this year and the next, Angola remains committed to maintaining a target production level of 1.1 million barrels per day.
However, challenges persist, including aging wells leading to daily losses of 90 thousand barrels.
Experts suggest that without OPEC limitations, Angola could potentially increase its production to 1.2 million barrels per day. This indicates a significant opportunity for growth outside of the OPEC framework.
