Angola Oil & Gas to bring strengths to the Oil industry

The upcoming 5th edition of the International Conference “Angola Oil & Gas – AOG/2024” is poised to bolster the oil industry and national economy, stated Alexandre Barroso, Secretary of State for Oil and Gas, during a press briefing in Luanda last Tuesday.

Scheduled for October 2nd and 3rd, the conference’s theme, “Boosting Exploration and Development to Increase Production in Angola,” underscores the imperative of addressing production decline through enhanced exploration efforts.

Barroso emphasized the sector’s challenges, particularly the significant annual decline in production, ranging from 10 to 15 percent.

He stressed the urgency of replenishing reserves through research, prospecting, and exploration to offset diminishing production from mature oil fields.

Echoing Barroso’s sentiments, Luís Conde, Director of Energy Capital Power Angola, highlighted ongoing efforts to surpass attendance expectations, especially through engagements with Asian investors, particularly from China and India. Conde underscored Angola’s readiness to welcome foreign investment to invigorate the sector.

Energy Capital Power Angola, a subsidiary of Energy Capital Power (ECP), co-organizes the event in collaboration with the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil, and Gas (MIREMPET), aiming to foster strategic partnerships and attract investment.

The conference anticipates over 3,500 participants, including representatives from companies and operators from 20 countries active in the oil and gas sector.

Notable attendees include strategic partners of the National Oil, Gas, and Biofuel Agency (ANPG), as well as various industry associations and service providers.

The event serves as a platform to reaffirm Angola’s position as a key global oil producer committed to sector transformation and development.

The presence of NJ Ayuk, President of the African Energy Chamber, further underscores the conference’s significance, with planned technical visits to key industry facilities enhancing collaboration and investment opportunities.
