AIPEX and Quanten Consortium sign a contract for the construction of the Soyo Refinery this Wednesday

The investment contract for the construction and operation of the Soyo Refinery (Zaire province) will be signed this Wednesday.

In the amount of 3.5 billion dollars, the document will be signed between the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX) and Quanten Consortium Angola.

The future refinery will have a processing capacity of 100,000 barrels of oil per day and will guarantee around 900 direct jobs. “The referred project is external (United States), and is budgeted at 3,500,000,000.00 dollars, providing for the creation of 900 direct jobs, of which 77 percent (700) are for nationals”, says a note, quoted by Jornal de Angola.

“The project complies with the new private investment policy and responds to the various objectives identified in the National Development Plan 2018-2022”, adds the note.

It is recalled that in May of this year, the Quanten consortium announced that it would invest 3.5 billion dollars in the construction of this refinery.

On the occasion, Segun Thomas, chairman of the consortium’s board of directors and CEO of TGT, said that the project will be carried out over a period of three and a half years.
