Concession of the Lobito Corridor among the biggest achievements of the year

The president of the Board of Directors of the Angola Cargo and Logistics Certification Regulatory Agency (ARCCLA) said, last week, in Luanda, that the concession of the Lobito Corridor, new logistics platforms and improved legislation constitute the main achievements of three years since the creation of the entity he directs.

Catarino de Fontes Pereira made these considerations on the occasion of ARCCLA’s third anniversary, which took place on December 29th, and highlighted the launch of public tenders for the concession, construction, exploration and commercial management, for periods of 30 years, of Arimba’s logistics platforms (Huíla), Lombe (Malanje) and Caála, in Huambo among the institution’s greatest achievements.

The signing of the Agreement for the creation of the Lobito Corridor Transport Facilitation Agency (LCTTFA), on the 16th of last month, between the ministers of Transport and Corridor Development of Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia, with the support of Secretariat of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) was also highlighted in the approach.

According to the ARCCLA PCA, the diploma marks a turning point in commercial relations, because it is based on political laws, regulations and harmonized systems of the Corridor, including the development of infrastructures, in a coordinated and coherent manner, in accordance with the provisions of the Treaty of SADC Protocols and development frameworks such as the SADC Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP) 2020-2030.

Catarino de Fontes Pereira highlighted that the consolidation of the objectives set for ARCCLA, through Presidential Decree 326/20, “forces us to provide greater dynamics and dexterity” from the perspective of developing logistics activity in the country, which involves effective regulation , supervision and certification of those involved in the logistics chain.

“The ongoing processes will have a substantial impact from the first quarter of 2024, with the execution of the basic infrastructures of the Caála, Luvo and Luau Logistics Platforms”, he assured.
