Sonangol emphasizes its commitment to transparent practices through its Regeneration Program, active from 2018 to 2021.
The company’s Communications Director asserts that Sonangol is now affiliated with key associations advocating for transparency and ethical business conduct, safeguarding the company against unethical behaviors.
“Sonangol is now aligned with transparency-focused associations, upholding ethical business practices,” stated the Communications Director.
He highlighted the ongoing implementation of a Compliance Program aimed at adapting management practices to evolving national and global standards in a modernized economy where Sonangol strives to adopt the best operational approaches.
In addressing these efforts, Dionísio Rocha Júnior emphasized the approval and implementation of corporate compliance policies, covering areas such as anti-fraud, anti-bribery, anti-corruption, conflict of interest, gifts, hospitality, and non-retaliation policies.
Additionally, Júnior highlighted Sonangol’s hotline alert channel managed by an independent external entity, ensuring the anonymous collection and handling of non-compliance incidents reported by both employees and third parties, aligning with global best practices.
These statements follow inquiries regarding a case involving Trafigura, a commodities company, allegedly associated with bribes to a Sonangol employee during 2009-2011, currently being handled in Swiss courts.
In response, Sonangol emphasizes its focus on the company’s progress, aiming to resolve ongoing matters and reinforce ethical standards as part of its Regeneration Program.
