The Geological Institute of Angola (IGEO) and the Korean Association for Economic Development of Africa (AKEDA) signed, Sunday, in Seoul, South Korea, an agreement with the objective of creating a working group to define the terms and conditions of prospecting and research projects for world-class mine exploration in Angola.
According to a press release sent to Jornal de Angola Online, the agreement was signed in the presence of the Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Angola to South Korea, Edgar Martins.
On the occasion, the chairman of the Board of Directors of IGEO highlighted that Angola is preparing to respond to the growing market demand for critical minerals that exists in the world, especially those for the energy transition such as lithium, cobalt, nikel, copper , niobio and rare earths that are sought after and needed in technologically advanced countries such as South Korea.
In turn, the Secretary General of AKEDA, who assumes he is committed to attracting South Korean companies to participate in Angola’s development process, acknowledged that this is a good time to establish this type of partnerships, which are expected to be mutually beneficial.
