António Feijó, who spoke on Tuesday 27th October, during the opening of the first seminar to promote the construction and rehabilitation of new fuel stations, stated that candidates interested in investing in the sector will receive support from the banking institutions based in the province of Malanje, through subsidized credit, as well as from companies with the capacity to build these mentioned facilities.
According to the official, the province of Malanje has 25 fuel stations, of which 10 are currently out of service. The model containerized fuel stations are valued at over 100,000 euros.
The Director of the Office for Integrated Economic Development, Pedro Bernardo, mentioned that the seminar aimed to publicize investment opportunities in fuel stations, other activities in the petroleum derivatives sector, and to encourage construction, as well as the implementation of simple fuel station models.
Pedro Bernardo added that the event also facilitated dialogue between financiers and investors to seek solutions and identify the main constraints contributing to the inoperability of fuel stations, as well as to devise strategies for fuel distribution and marketing companies to reactivate the equipment.
“With the initiative of the Petroleum Derivatives Regulatory Institute, local entrepreneurs and businesspeople who wish to invest in the sector will be equipped with the necessary tools for the success of their commercial activities,” he emphasized.
He noted that the licensing of commercial activities related to Mineral Resources, Petroleum, and Gas is directed at the municipalities due to administrative decentralization and devolution.
According to the official, in the 14 municipalities of the province of Malanje, fuel stations are only present in the municipalities of Mucari, Cacuso, Calandula, and Malanje.
The province of Malanje has two facilities with the capacity to store gasoline and diesel, totaling 12,237 cubic meters, as well as a mini-gas facility with a capacity of 39 metric tons, where 56 bottles are filled per day.
Regarding consumption, the Director stated that in the last quarter of the current year, the province of Malanje consumed 25,825 metric tons, which was considered higher than in previous years.
He announced that there are plans to install three Sonangol fuel stations in the near future in the municipalities of Cambundi-Catembo, Quirima, and Massango, as well as a Sonangalp fuel station.
