Zambian minister meets with Sonangol management

The Zambian Minister of Energy, Peter Chibwe Kapala, participates today in the inauguration of a gasoline production unit at the Luanda Refinery and has a working meeting at Sonangol’s headquarters, in the presence of the holder of the Mineral Resources portfolio, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, refers to a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX).

Peter Kapala arrived last night in Luanda, for an official four-day visit to Angola. During the visit, he is expected to reaffirm Zambia’s interest in importing oil products from Angola, from a gas pipeline under construction in the south of the country.

The Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas said that the current status of works on the canal that will take oil products to Zambia and the deepening of solutions for this import will dominate the agenda of the Zambian minister’s visit.

The program also includes a trip to the province of Benguela, where the Zambian government official will see “in loco” the economic potential that the province offers, mainly linked to the construction of the Lobito Refinery and services of the Merchant Marine and Ports.

Before returning to Zambia, Peter Kapala should also visit the Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal and the António Agostinho Neto Memorial, the first President of Angola.

Political and diplomatic relations between Angola and Zambia are satisfactory and fully correspond to the expectations of the respective peoples, says the Mirex note.

The two countries have established bonds of affection that impel them to objectively outline actions in terms of cooperation at all levels.
