DRC’s Diamond Exports Reach $145.9 Million by the End of 2022

Diamond exports from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) generated over $145.9 million in revenue throughout 2022, according to statistical data published by the Ministry of Mines.

The 2022 annual report reveals that diamond exports to the Democratic Republic of Congo amounted to 11,683,439.31 carats. Artisanal production dominated diamond production in the country during the analyzed period, accounting for more than 7,353,996.44 carats and generating a total of $83.7 million.

When examining artisanal diamond mining exports by counter in 2022, MIABI held the highest share at 37.34%, followed by AMAZONA with 25.40%, MALABAR with 20.19%, and SAGA with 17.07% in terms of quantity.

In terms of industrial production, 4,322,747.97 carats were recorded in 2022, generating revenues of $62.3 million. Throughout the year, SACIM dominated the exports of industrially mined diamonds.

The company KABE initiated its export operations in October 2022, representing a marginal quantity of 0.09%.

Regarding diamond exports by country of destination in 2022, the United Arab Emirates accounted for 50.04%, followed by Belgium EU with 46.34%, India with 3.58%, Israel with 0.03%, Canada with 0.003%, and the USA with 0.001% in terms of quantity.
