The trade balance of Angola recorded a surplus of 14.9 billion kwanzas in the economic year of 2022, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
INE data shows that, comparing the balance evolution between 2021 and 2022, there is a growth of 7.59 percent. The main partners of Angola in exports during the period were China, with 43.70 percent, India (10.24%), France (7.25%), the Netherlands (6.83%), and Spain (4.43%), in relation to the total value of exports.
As for imports, Angola’s main partners were China, with 16.02 percent, Portugal (10.77%), South Korea (9.24%), the Netherlands (6.84%), and India (6.10%), in relation to the total value of imports.
Regarding the main African partners in exports, South Africa accounted for 47.01 percent, Malawi (13.58%), the Democratic Republic of Congo (12.75%), São Tomé and Príncipe (5.04%), and Togo (4.39%) in relation to the total value of Africa. In imports, the main African partners were South Africa, accounting for 54.65 percent, Togo (12.82%), Namibia (7.17%), Morocco (6.43%), and Egypt (3.07%), in relation to the total value of Africa.
According to the INE, the product groups that had the highest participation in the total value of exports were fuels and minerals with 94.92 percent, pearls and precious metals (3.97%), while in the total value of imports, the products that stood out the most were fuels, with 22.42 percent, machinery and appliances (18.57%), food products (12.24%), chemicals (9.35%), and vehicles and other means of transport (9.03%).
During the year 2022, according to the Classification of Major Economic Categories (CGCE), the goods that had the highest participation in total exports were fuels and lubricants, with 94.45 percent, industrial supplies not specified in other categories (4.95%). As for the total value of imports, the ones that stood out the most were industrial supplies not specified in other categories, accounting for 23.59 percent, fuels and lubricants (22.31%), capital goods except transport equipment and its parts and accessories (18.71%), and food and beverages (17.19%).
