Angola intends to stabilize production at around 1.3 million barrels per day (bpd) over the next three years, according to research by the African energy consultant.
According to the consultant, the country has a crude oil production on the rise – increasing by more than 580,000 barrels per month, from December 2022 to January 2023.
The source ensures that the southern African producer has several notable Exploration and Research (E&P) projects that are in progress and are awaiting the Final Investment Decision (FID), which will serve to maximize existing hydrocarbon resources, optimize existing facilities subsea infrastructure and enable cost reductions.
These are the development projects Q&M Gas Project, the Agogo Oil Field, the Begonia Field, the CLOV Phase 3 and the Cameia-Golfinho. These five projects will have a great positive impact on the energy industry in the country in the coming years.
Thus, in an effort to accompany the exploitation and monetization of upstreamgas, maintains the consultant, the Consórcio Novo Gás (NGC) of Angola – composed of Chevron, Azule Energy, TotalEnergies and Sonangol – arrived at the FID in the Quiluma and Maboqueiro gas project (Q&M ) last August, together with the National Agency of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG). The project consists of two offshore wellhead platforms.
An onshore gas processing plant and another connection to the Angola LNG plant. And so far the project has awarded contracts to Saipem for the onshore plant and Quiluma platform, JV Gruppo Antonini/Proger/Kerry Logística for the Maboqueiro platform and Baker Huges for the supply of turbo compressors.
It emphasizes that the first gas planned for 2026 will play a critical role in advancing Angola’s gas-centric agenda in its exploration and in the development of non-associated gas.
Data for the month of April confirm the reversal of the downward trend with a clear rise in Angolan oil production to above a million barrels/day.
